Mental Health Assistant GCOP
About The Position
The Mental Health Assistant (MHA) will deliver attendant care, respite care, psychosocial rehabilitation, and independent living skills to consumers as directed by their supervisor. The MHA will provide direct one-on-one supervision of consumers and work directly from the Treatment Plan to help them learn independent living skills, complete specific goals, or help stabilize them in crisis situations to avoid out-of-home placement. The Mental Health Assistant will demonstrate flexibility in being available to work as client needs arise. Staff members shall possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, the ability to work with the mentally ill, and respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. Applicants must possess an interest and investment in working with children who experience Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and have the ability to work as a member of a treatment team in providing a continuum of services to consumers and their families.
Requirements
- Age 21+ years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Interest and investment in working with children who experience Severe and Emotional Disturbance (SED) and their families.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- Will complete any required training within six months of employment.
