About The Position

This position transports patients by various means (i.e., wheelchair, Broda Chair, state vehicle) to therapies, activities, appointments and outside placements; transports pharmaceuticals and other items within the hospital; maintains inventory of patients' personal belongings; and performs various tasks to assist in the Admissions Department. This position works four 10-hour shifts 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m, Monday through Friday, with a rotating day off during the week, but may vary according to needs of facility. This position also works a rotating holiday schedule.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of basic physical and psychological needs of mentally ill and chemically dependent patients.
  • Knowledge of patient safety procedures.
  • Ability to assist in lifting and moving of patients.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and push carts for delivery of various items, often walking 2-3 miles per day.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment in all types of weather.
  • Ability to input data using a computer.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles.
  • Ability to operate Broda Chair and wheelchairs.
  • Ability to operate a hot press for labeling patients' clothing.
  • Ability to coordinate patient transport trips.
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

  • Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation.
  • Successful applicant(s) will undergo an abuse and neglect screening.
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Deal with aggressive behavior.
  • Listen and be empathetic with patients.
  • Assist in lifting and moving of patients.
  • Lift 75 pounds.
