About The Position

Portland Rescue Mission is seeking a Men’s Community Life Lead. This role involves leading men recovering from homelessness and addiction towards healthy relationships with God and others, leading towards long-term success.

  • General awareness and knowledge of chemical dependency, addiction recovery and discipleship
  • Good understanding and experience in relational development, facility operations and community building
  • Proficient in documentation, organization, scheduling and activity planning
  • Experience in Mac and Microsoft Windows software
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. unassisted

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, equip and mobilize the Community Life team to provide 24/7 coverage (including appropriate overnight coverage) so that program participants experience a consistently safe, purposeful, engaging and supportive environment.
  • Provide The Harbor (TH) program participants with a consistent programmatic care and experience in the evenings and weekends by maintaining program purposes, guidelines, and tone resulting in continued growth of all participants.
  • Support TH program participants growth in spiritual formation, relationships and addictions recovery through one-on-one conversations, compassionate care, consistent invitations to participate and use of applicable growth tools for accountability as needed.
  • Assist Director of Men’s Recovery in three key areas: equipping and coordinating Harbor volunteers; overseeing dynamic group events that encourage spiritual growth and retention, including weekly Community Life meetings, graduations, and retreats; and overseeing men during post-graduation phases of their program.
  • Maintain program and facility operations to PRM standards through supporting a variety of activities such as Urinalysis (UA’s), Med Call, Facility Lock Up and walk-thru, evening meal, vocational duties, visitations, and attendance accountability.
  • Collaborate with TH daytime Program Staff on participant behaviors through Evening Shift Report, effective database communication and consistent use of growth tools.
  • Train and support Community Life Staff Interns to effectively serve program participants while growing in their own ministry skills and abilities.
