About The Position

Recruits, provides instruction and coaches basketball students. Responsible for managing all aspects of the intercollegiate basketball program for NTU. This position description indicates in general the nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, and abilities. It is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required or assigned to this position.

Requirements

Five years' experience actively coaching basketball students.
Running experience preferred.
Valid state driver's license.
Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.
Knowledge of basketball.
Knowledge of fundraising activities
Knowledge of budget processes and practices.
Skill in coaching and mentoring.
Skill in operating business computers and office machines.
Strong interpersonal, organization and communication skills.
Ability to develop external financial resources for the support of the basketball program.
Ability to build, plan, and implement basketball program.
Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively in the Navajo and English language.
Ability to work as a team member in a structured working environment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Recruits student athlete basketball athletes for the program.
Coaches and supervising student practices.
Manages basketball and The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) events for Navajo Technical University (NTU).
Travels with the teams to off-campus collegiate basketball events.
Prepares and maintains the program budget.
Acts as an advisor to the basketball Club and interact frequently with students, parents, boosters, and the general public.
Plans and coordinates fundraising activities for the basketball program.
Responsible for maintenance of the basketball facilities.
Insures all rules and regulations of NTU and USCAA are maintained.
Help prepare for NTU Fall and Spring basketball; sponsors, stocks, personal, and etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
