About The Position

The Memory Care Programs Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of activities for residents, ensuring their engagement and well-being. This role involves collaborating with the care staff, updating schedules, surveying resident interests, and leading activities. The coordinator also plays a part in marketing events, managing volunteers, and ensuring regulatory compliance within the memory care unit.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) months experience in providing planned activities or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.
  • One (1) year of experience in conducting group activities.
  • Knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs.
  • Knowledgeable in supervising other employees.
  • Knowledgeable in training volunteers.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations for preparing pricing and producing reports.
  • Demonstrates sound communications skills, both verbally and written in dealing with residents, staff, families, visitors and vendors.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Proficient in basic office equipment (including a personal computer) for the purpose of accomplishing and maintaining a high level of job performance.
  • Good physical health verified by a health screening, including a chest x-ray or an intradermal test result not more than 6 months prior or seven (7) days after employment.
  • Be mobile and able to perform physical requirements of the job.
  • Assist in loading and un-loading of residents into property’s vehicle/van.
  • Will require physically assisting residents during activities.
  • Displays sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults.
  • Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families.
  • Employee must pass a criminal record clearance prior to beginning work in the community.
  • Employee must possess current first aid training.
  • Employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Director of Programs, care staff, and receptionists to ensure that the highest possible number of residents attend each activity.
  • Assist in the monthly planning of the activity calendar and brainstorm new activities with the Programs Director.
  • Update digital signs, menu activity schedules, and movie descriptions.
  • Assist with surveying residents and making observations and recommendations to determine what activities are of interest.
  • Help to develop and to maintain the daily exercise programming.
  • Communicate with the Director of Activities to ensure each program is being implemented to its fullest potential and provide feedback on programming effectiveness.
  • Set-up for activities as necessary and assist in clean-up afterward, including organizing supplies and notifying the Programs Director of replenishment needs.
  • Practice good safety and protect residents from any possible harm, reporting all safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with Marketing events.
  • Plan and lead activities according to monthly calendar and under the direction of Director of Activities.
  • Assist in making flyers, calendars, newsletters and updating social media websites as needed.
  • Work with volunteers such as scheduling, training and organizing day-to-day assignments.
  • Assist with scheduling transportation or driving vehicles as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and report any issues or concerns immediately.
