Description Job Summary Monitors the pool to ensure the safety of residents, families and anyone else using the pool. Responds to emergency situations. Essential Functions Provides on deck supervision of the pool at all times, and maintains a constant vigil of all activities in the pool. Responds to emergency situations in a quick manner, and executes emergency plan. Informs supervisor of all incidents and completes appropriate documentation. Enforces all rules and regulations of the pool to prevent accidents, and minimize and eliminate hazardous situations in and around the pool. Performs safety checks of the pool area and equipment on a monthly basis and informs manager of problems as appropriate. Responsible for securing the pool area when closed by returning equipment to storage areas, gathering soiled linens, moving lounge chairs and tables to appropriate places, turning off lights and locking all doors to the pool area. Performs daily chemical testing of pool and spa to ensure chemical levels and temperature are appropriate. Reports any chemical imbalances and pool operation issues to manager. Maintains a clean and safe pool environment by cleaning scum line in the pool/spa on a daily basis, sanitizing pool equipment, cleaning stainless steel rails on a weekly basis, and sweeping and vacuuming pool as requested. Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents with achievement of safe working practices and the preservation of equipment. An associate should perform all duties as assigned by his/her supervisor. Education and Experience High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements Current certification in lifeguarding (American Red Cross, or YMCA). First Aid and C.P.R. Management/Decision Making Makes standard and routine decisions based on detailed guidelines with little independent judgment. Problems are generally solved with clear, detailed guidelines or by reporting them to a supervisor. Knowledge and Skills Has a basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. Has basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. Has a basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions. Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, families, visitors and coworkers.
