About The Position

The Residence at Basking Ridge is seeking a Memory Care Medication Technician. This role involves dispensing medications, assisting residents with daily living activities, monitoring their health status, and facilitating programming. The technician will be responsible for accurate documentation of services provided and ensuring resident needs are met promptly and compassionately. This position requires adherence to state regulations and community policies, as well as participation in ongoing training programs.

Requirements

Must have completed the course, as required by State Regulation to administer medication.
CPR and First Aide training as mandated by the State employed.
Ability to use computer for documenting services provided.
Fluent in the ability to communicate in the English language, both oral and written.
Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing or demonstrate the ability to learn data input.
Current Med Aide or LMNA certification/license or completed required training as dictated by State Regulation.
Must maintain required certification/license and provide copies of the documentation to the Resident Care Director or designee.
Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment.
Visual and auditory acuity.
Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs. and be able to carry objects.
Must be able to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit and stand.
Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height as tasks dictate.
Must use good body mechanics.
Stamina to make visits to residents throughout the community.
Occasional pushing or pulling, assisting of residents weighing (~150 lbs.).
Have the ability to occasionally push an occupied wheelchair for a distance of up to 200 feet.
Must project a positive attitude towards the service provided.
Associate may be subject to potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, and to handling hazardous chemicals (either Category 1 or 2).

Nice To Haves

Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training preferred.
Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimers disease or other forms of Dementia is preferred.

Responsibilities

Dispense unit dose medications and make required record entries.
Notify the nurse of any changes in self-administered medications.
Order and receive medications per State regulation and LCB policies.
Assist Residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and walking.
Monitor for changes in resident needs, preferences, and health status, reporting any noticed changes to the RN or designee.
Assist Residents with clothing and laundry needs.
Supervise or assist Residents with activity programs.
Assist Residents in going to bed at night, when necessary.
Assist Residents with keeping their units neat, clean, and orderly.
Answer emergency calls and attend to Residents' needs promptly.
Participate in regularly scheduled on-going in-service training programs.
Participate in specialized staff training programs and mandatory education requirements.
Assist with escorting residents to meals and activities as needed.
Document scheduled and unscheduled services, including incidents, behaviors, and out-of-the-ordinary events.
Input information into the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents.
Conduct and facilitate programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interaction, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity, and spiritual connection.
