About The Position

AlmaVia of Camarillo is seeking a compassionate and experienced Memory Care Director to oversee the daily operations of their Memory Care program. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-directed care and engagement for residents living with dementia. The Director will lead and support caregiving staff, coordinate engaging programs, foster strong relationships with families, and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards. The position is rooted in the "I’m Still Here" philosophy of care, aiming to create a meaningful, holistic, and dignified environment for residents. The role is part of the Elder Care Alliance family, known for its exceptional, person-centered care.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience supervising staff in a dementia care setting, such as assisted living, memory care, or long-term care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer’s, and evidence-based best practices in memory care.
  • Knowledge and experience with Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 8 regulations applicable to RCFE operations.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and employee database systems in a web-based environment.
  • A deep understanding and passion for older adults, particularly those experiencing cognitive challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and collaborative work ethic are essential.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality and professional interactions with residents, families, peers, volunteers, and team members in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Skilled in exhibiting adaptability, making informed decisions in high-pressure situations, and effectively prioritizing tasks and projects with flexibility and a positive attitude.
  • Completion of a background check.
  • Additional requirements may include a physical, TB test, fingerprint, and vaccinations per state/local guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in gerontology, social work, therapeutic recreation, psychology, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and support Memory Care Resident Assistants and caregiving staff.
  • Manage team member hiring, onboarding, scheduling, evaluations, and performance improvement.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings, in-service training, and dementia care education.
  • Ensure services and programs align with the “I’m Still Here” philosophy and support holistic wellness.
  • Collaborate with Life Enrichment, Spiritual Care, and other departments to provide meaningful engagement.
  • Monitor residents’ physical and cognitive status, initiate appropriate care plan updates, and communicate changes to the licensed nurse, families, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Lead family meetings, assist with assessments, and contribute to individualized service plans.
  • Support residents in maintaining daily routines and dignity in all activities of daily living.
  • Ensure Memory Care programming and staffing practices align with California Title 22 RCFE regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support compliance during inspections and audits.
  • Manage department expenses within budget.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and collaborate with the community’s Administrator and Health Care Coordinator(s) to promote quality care.
