Memory Care Activities Assistant The Residence at Bala Cynwyd
About The Position
LCB Senior Living is hiring a Memory Care Activities Assistant at The Residence at Bala Cynwyd. This role supports the planning, development, organization, and implementation of residence activities, helping create engaging opportunities for residents and encouraging participation. The assistant maintains warm, professional relationships with residents and families, supports community outings and volunteer programs, and helps residents with the residence store. The position includes driving residents in a van as needed and requires the ability to work independently and perform dual tasks. The schedule includes every other weekend.
Requirements
- Ability to assist in developing and implementing activities.
- Ability to create interest in activities and motivate residents to participate daily.
- Creativity and motivational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform tasks and work independently.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, presentation software, and calendar/newsletter software.
- Valid driver's license in the state of work, with no more than two moving violations in a three-year period as determined by the company's insurance broker.
- Ability to lift at least 15 pounds and carry objects.
- Ability to push and pull carts, and continuously walk, sit, and stand.
- Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, lift, turn, crouch, kneel, reach below the waist and above shoulder height as tasks dictate.
- Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment, and visual and auditory acuity.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in recreational therapy or a related field preferred.
- Gerontology experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, developing, organizing, and implementing residence activities.
- Suggest ways to improve and expand the Activities Program.
- Maintain a professional, warm, and caring relationship with residents and families.
- Assist with arranging transportation and escorts for residents traveling to and from outside and community activities.
- Assist with maintaining and expanding Volunteer Programs.
- Assist residents with maintaining and operating the residence store.
- Assist with maintaining adequate supplies within the department budget.
- Assist residents to and from activities.
- Assist with the monthly newsletter and/or weekly calendar.
- Attend required ongoing in-service training sessions and orientation.
- Drive residents in a van as needed.
