About The Position

The Memory Care Activities Assistant enriches residents’ lives by creating a joyful and engaging environment where seniors feel seen, heard, and valued. The role supports residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related dementia, helping each person live every day to their maximum cognitive and physical ability. The assistant works closely with the care team to support residents’ emotional, social, cognitive, and physical needs, while balancing schedules, residents, and activity preparation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Successful completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant training and competency evaluation program, or a state-approved CNA competency evaluation program. The community can provide this training.
• Ability to connect supportively with residents and understand their emotional and social needs.
• Passion for working with people experiencing Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related dementia.
• Ability to work toward shared care goals and cooperate closely with the care team.
• Time-management skills to balance schedules, residents, and activity preparation.
• Creativity in developing activities for differing physical and cognitive abilities.

Responsibilities

• Connect with residents and support their emotional and social needs.
• Help residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related dementia maintain their cognitive and physical abilities.
• Work collaboratively with the care team to support residents holistically.
• Manage daily schedules, multiple residents, and activity preparation.
• Create engaging, age-appropriate activities suited to different physical and cognitive abilities.
