About The Position

Democratic Socialists of America is the largest socialist organization in the United States, with nearly 120,000 members and chapters across the country. We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party. Through community and campus-based chapters, DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people. DSA is a big tent, multi-tendency organization that welcomes everyone committed to democratic socialism. DSA is seeking an experienced candidate for a Membership Growth and Retention position. This position will report to the Development Director and work closely with other staff to manage requests from members.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2 years experience in fundraising, development, or a related field
  • Preferred experience handling a ticketing system like Zendesk
  • Preferred experience with CRM or similar systems
  • Experience working in a membership-led organization and/or with member leaders that direct the work (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Development Director, across staff departments, NPC, and relevant National committees to coordinate and execute National dues drives and membership drives
  • Work alongside Regional Organizers to support chapters in the execution of National dues drives and membership drives
  • Work with the Development Director as needed on fundraising initiatives
  • Work with relevant committees to organize membership text banks and phonebanks
  • Work with the Membership Coordinator and Chapter Development Coordinator to process member requests and inquiries via Zendesk in a timely manner, and maintain the membership database
  • Track membership data and trends, and create data reports
  • Provide support for national events as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the Development Director as needed
