About The Position

The Member Services Representative I provides personalized service to members in order to attract, enhance and retain member relationships. These relationships are enhanced through the cross-selling of credit union products and services to meet all the members’ financial needs. The Member Services Representative is expected to know the detailed features and benefits of all credit union products and services available and present them in a professional manner. This role requires 100 percent on-site presence.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Cash handling and customer service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Courtesy and tact are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with customers and others inside and outside the organization, generally regarding fairly routine matters for the purposes of giving and obtaining information or instructions, updating or referring. Communications require shorter and not in-depth discussions most of the time.
  • Must be PC literate; experience with banking software a plus.
  • Verifiable job history showing stability, consistency, dependability and accountability.
  • Must be available to work Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process banking financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments, as well as processing cashier’s checks to credit union members.
  • Analyze member’s banking financial needs and effectively cross-sell credit union products and services through referrals to Financial Service Representatives.
  • Ensure accuracy in all banking transactions and follow all established cash-handling procedures and balancing requirements.
  • Effective communication with the branches they are covering and supporting.
  • Receives loan payments and savings deposits from customer, addresses inquiries on accounts, records amounts and dates of payments and other significant information, checks customer calculations and validates checks and/or counts cash payment.
  • Assist other departments and branches with transactions as needed, provide support for the department and branch managers in fulfilling customer requests and merchant verifications.
  • Create and maintain a clean, neat, pleasant work environment by maintaining a professional look (i.e. dress, posture, attitude, etc.), positive outlook and behavior toward customers and co-workers.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
