About The Position

Join Golden Valley Electric Association as a Member Services Representative I – Frontline in Fairbanks, Alaska, and serve as a primary point of contact for GVEA members. In this role, you will help members establish and manage accounts, process payments, understand usage and billing, and navigate service-related questions with professionalism and care. You will assist members during routine and high-stress situations, including outages and disconnects, while providing accurate information and dependable service. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Two years’ experience working in a direct customer service related capacity in a service industry.
  • At least one year of cash handling experience.
  • Strong customer service background.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to remain professional under pressure.
  • Dependable.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Comfortable handling payments.
  • Comfortable balancing cash.
  • Comfortable using office systems.
  • Ability to assist members both in person and by phone.

  • Associate degree in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members, providing support with account setup, payments, billing questions, service requests, and general cooperative information.
  • Create and maintain member accounts.
  • Process connect and disconnect orders.
  • Assist with electronic billing and payment systems.
  • Ensure account information is accurate and confidential.
  • Support members during high-stress situations, including outages and disconnects for nonpayment, by explaining available options and helping resolve concerns in accordance with GVEA policies and procedures.
  • Manage multiple requests while delivering a high level of customer service.
