About The Position

Corning Credit Union is seeking full-time Member Service Representatives in the Corning, New York market. The Member Service Representative I builds member relationships through quality service, answers questions professionally and knowledgeably, and performs cash-handling transactions. The role involves maintaining knowledge of core systems and credit union products and services, presenting appropriate products, assisting members with financial needs, resolving service issues, maintaining accounts, and balancing daily transactions. Extensive training is provided to the successful candidate. The position may be assigned to any of the credit union’s branches in Chemung and Steuben Counties.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Confidence in promoting appropriate products and services.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Technical aptitude and experience with Microsoft programs.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence.
• Ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
• Flexibility to work in any of the Chemung and Steuben County branches.
• Ability to work repetitive motions for a lengthy period, stand for prolonged periods, and lift more than 15 pounds.
• Ability to work in a moderately loud, fast-paced environment; regular computer use is required.
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus from close range to long range.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or other form of secondary education; commensurate work experience may also be considered.
• Prior teller or customer service experience.
• Cash-handling and customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate knowledge of core systems and Corning Credit Union products and services.
• Present and explain beneficial products to members and assist in meeting their financial needs.
• Perform a variety of teller transactions using cash-handling skills and procedural knowledge.
• Answer members’ questions and resolve problems using effective listening and quality service skills.
• Perform file maintenance and account changes.
• Balance daily transactions, verify cash totals, and investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions.
• Assume responsibility for other projects or duties as required or assigned.
