About The Position

The Member Service Representative is responsible for providing membership enrollment, program registration and information/referral services to YMCA members. They create an atmosphere that is welcoming and courteous, and serve members accurately and efficiently. Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years of age or older
  • Positive, friendly and enthusiastic attitude; enjoys working with people of all backgrounds
  • Ability to quickly analyze the member’s needs and meet those needs by answering questions or directing questions/calls to the appropriate person
  • Working knowledge of the YMCA organizational structure
  • Ability to function independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic clerical knowledge
  • Initiative to take on tasks or responsibilities to meet the needs of members or staff
  • Flexibility with one’s work schedule, order of assigned tasks and work environment
  • Ability to present oneself professionally to members and staff
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and thoroughly
  • Ability to maintain accurate membership records and a till drawer 99.9% of assigned work shifts
  • Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30-days of hire and kept current throughout length of employment.
  • New Employee Orientation must be completed within 45 days of hire.

  • Attendance at Member Service staff meetings and bi-annual All-Staff meetings required

Responsibilities

  • Register community members for membership, branch programs, association programs and events using the online membership management system
  • Perform all transactions under your own name and password
  • Maintain a till, including collecting money, making change and reconciling. Document funds, overages and shortages
  • Control admittance to facility by ensuring all who enter are checked in or have been issued a day pass or swim pass
  • Enforce organizational and facility policies and procedures
  • Maintain lobby and lounge cleanliness. Support cleanliness and safety throughout the facility
  • Perform office tasks, member follow-up calls or other projects as delegated by supervisor
  • Exhibit the YMCA Four Core Values (Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty) during work shift or while using the YMCA facility
  • Provide accurate, thorough and timely information to the public regarding YMCA membership, programs and facilities
  • Answer phones consistently, accurately, and courteously
  • Perform other duties as a supervisor requests
