About The Position

Member of Technical Staff - Atlas Company: Basis Location: New York, NY (Flatiron office, in person 5 days per week) Compensation: $150,000 - $300,000 + highly competitive equity Employment Type: Full-time Visa Sponsorship: Visa transfers (OPT, H-1B transfer) About Basis Basis started from the belief that AI agents would become integral to knowledge work, and that accounting (structured, high-stakes and essential to every business) would be among the first domains transformed. Three years in, Basis can complete a partnership tax workbook end to end, and accountants use it daily to create complex journal entries and debug reconciliations, with capabilities improving every month. Basis has raised a $140M Series B. The Role Basis is hiring full-stack and agent engineers for Atlas, its internal agent team, with one mandate: make every employee dramatically more productive. Atlas is a group of builders, former founders and engineers who embed directly with Basis teams to build intelligence into their workflows. It has already shipped agent teammates that push code to production, systems that keep company knowledge current automatically and services that diagnose and repair themselves. The goal is zero-human loops that handle entire jobs end to end.

Requirements

5-15 years building 0-to-1 products as a full-stack engineer
Experience as a founder, founding engineer or engineer at a fast-paced startup (seed to Series D) with high ownership
Deeply AI-native: builds agents, has opinions on which models suit which use cases
Expertise in one full-stack language with a product mindset
Hands-on with agent SDKs and LLM tooling beyond basic chatbots
Product management instincts and comfort with ambiguity
Strong tenures (2+ years per company) and career progression
Ability to work in person in New York 5 days a week

Responsibilities

Build agent systems that do real work inside Basis: coding agents, knowledge systems and self-healing services.
Design context architecture: define sources of truth and make company knowledge navigable for agents and people.
Embed with internal teams to understand their workflows and data, then build agents that take over entire jobs.
Invent new infrastructure, interfaces and operating models for humans and agents working together.
Own outcomes as the single Responsible Party for your projects.
