About The Position

Workstreet is hiring a senior engineer to build the software and AI workflows that run the company. This is an AI-native engineering role: nearly all code is written with AI, and the engineer is responsible for understanding systems deeply enough to direct that work through architecture, agent context and constraints, guardrails, reviews, and tests that ensure secure, reliable, and correct software. The role emphasizes engineering fundamentals over experience with particular languages or frameworks. This is Workstreet’s first role of its kind, with substantial autonomy and direct collaboration with people who use the software. The engineer will help determine which problems to solve and how, work through a long backlog, and ship daily. They should be comfortable taking well-scoped features from idea to production quickly and owning the results after launch. The role is remote-first and collaborates with a global team. Workstreet offers career development, mentorship and training opportunities, reimbursement for approved role-related training and certification courses, competitive base compensation, merit-based performance reviews and bonus opportunities, and career advancement opportunities at an early-stage company. Local travel may be required occasionally for onsite meetings, team gatherings, or business activities. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship. Hiring includes live video interviews with camera on, identity verification, and background screening where permitted by law.

Requirements

  • Senior engineering experience and a track record of building and operating useful software, including work owned from idea through production.
  • Regular, enthusiastic use of AI-driven development as a primary way of writing code.
  • Strong understanding of architecture, including how components, data, and workflows fit together, and ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear plans with appropriate context, constraints, and checks.
  • Strong command of programming fundamentals and ability to work productively across languages and frameworks, including unfamiliar ones.
  • Ability to explain shipped code, identify flawed AI output, debug it, and make direct corrections when needed.
  • Focus on delivering useful products and outcomes rather than handcrafting every line of code.
  • Ability to identify and practically automate repetitive work.
  • Ability to work autonomously, make decisions, communicate tradeoffs, and move work forward without detailed tickets or meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for engaging with candidates, hiring managers, and business leaders across global teams.
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connection and a professional home office that supports confidential conversations, virtual interviews, and uninterrupted collaboration.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally for occasional onsite meetings, team gatherings, or business activities.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Participation in live video interviews with camera on and identity verification during recruitment and onboarding; employment is contingent on identity verification and background screening where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

  • Design systems and features, break them into clear tasks, and direct AI agents across interfaces, APIs, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.
  • Establish testing, security review, and verification practices to ensure AI-written code is trustworthy and software quality is maintained.
  • Work with teammates to understand business workflows, define problems, ship useful software, and improve it based on user feedback.
  • Identify repetitive manual processes and build tools, integrations, and AI workflows to automate them.
  • Own software in production, making decisions about security, reliability, and maintenance, and investigate and fix issues when they occur.
  • Shape the technical approach, development practices, and use of AI as tools and needs evolve.

Benefits

  • Career development, mentorship, and training opportunities.
  • Reimbursement for successful completion of approved training and certification courses relevant to the current role.
  • Competitive base salary, regular performance reviews linked to merit-based appraisals, and bonus opportunities.
  • Career advancement opportunities at an early-stage company.
  • Remote-first flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a global team.
