About The Position

We're building Percy, an AI agent designed to automate financial crime investigations end-to-end for banks and fintech companies. Current manual processes are overwhelmed by surging transaction volumes and increasing regulatory demands. Percy aims to resolve this by learning investigation procedures, making decisions like human analysts, clearing false positives, escalating real risks, and documenting every step. This AI solution significantly reduces review workloads and improves fraud detection. Percy's effectiveness is underpinned by a robust identity platform built over four years, which resolves ambiguity at the source through integrated verification tools before cases reach human review. The company is backed by prominent investors and trusted by major clients, experiencing rapid revenue growth and planning further expansion. The team is characterized by its small size, senior talent, and rapid execution.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience operating production infrastructure on a major cloud, including provisioning, deploying, and debugging real systems under load.
  • Fluency with infrastructure-as-code and a track record of managing infra declaratively.
  • Strong observability instincts: experience building metrics, traces, logs, and alerting for incident resolution.
  • Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and build/deploy systems for an engineering organization.
  • Comfort going deep on databases (especially relational/Postgres): performance, scaling, and safe schema/operational changes.
  • A bias toward leverage: making other engineers faster.
  • Comfort juggling many competing priorities.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity at an early-stage company, taking ownership of a function handled on the side.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Rust, Postgres, AWS (ECS/Fargate, Aurora Postgres, CloudFront), Pulumi / Terraform, Datadog / OpenTelemetry, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience deploying or sandboxing AI-agent / LLM workloads (e.g., Modal or similar serverless compute), including isolation and security.
  • Security-minded infra experience (secrets management, network isolation, least-privilege IAM).

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and scale AI-agent infrastructure, ensuring safe, fast, and observable agent deployment on sandboxed, isolated compute.
  • Own end-to-end observability, defining metrics for reliability, latency, and cost across Rust services and AI agents, making production legible for all engineers.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines, building and hardening systems for code deployment from commit to production, and ensuring fast, trustworthy per-PR ephemeral environments.
  • Improve developer experience by investing in code review tooling, merge queue tooling, and a reliable testing strategy.
  • Treat developer experience as a product, investing in tooling, feedback loops, and paved paths for engineers.
  • Build product directly when necessary, as much of the role involves infrastructure in service of products.

Benefits

  • Generous compensation and equity packages
  • Free lunch and dinner (after 7pm)
  • Monthly wellness stipend
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Fully covered health, dental, and vision insurance
  • The chance to help shape the future of internet identity and financial crime prevention
