About The Position

The key purpose of this position is to provide an exceptional in-branch member experience by handling all basic member needs including teller transactions, account maintenance, educating members, making recommendations, and card issues. This role involves performing a variety of cash and non-cash transactions, assisting members with account maintenance, and handling various card-related functions. Additionally, the Member Consultant is responsible for identifying member needs and referring them to appropriate team members, encouraging the use of self-service banking solutions, and maintaining strong member relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of cash and non-cash transactions including cashing checks, receiving deposits, processing funds transfers, and processing loan payments.
  • Verify the authenticity of negotiable instruments and sell cashier’s checks, teller’s checks, and money orders.
  • Assist with end-of-day balancing if necessary and provide notary services.
  • Assist members with account maintenance needs, including resolving account discrepancies, performing file maintenance and account changes (disputes, unauthorized transactions, stop payments, change of address, name changes, wires, add/remove joints and beneficiaries, etc.).
  • Educate and assist members with electronic services such as automated phone system, Mobile Banking App, Online Banking, and MRDC.
  • Research and resolve account issues.
  • Perform various card (ATM and Debit) related functions, including creating, blocking, and activating credit cards, ATM cards, or EMV debit cards.
  • Maintain an accurate log of cards processed, destroyed, and received.
  • Research fraud, transaction history, payments, and purchases.
  • Complete loss and stolen reports as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between the member and the Card Services department.
  • Balance the instant issue card machine and perform daily card stock inventory.
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with credit union members.
  • Identify member needs and refer them to Purdue Fed team members with expertise in specific products and services.
  • Encourage members to use self-service banking solutions.
