About The Position

This role is part of a pod (a group of nearby branches) within BECU’s Soundview District. The Member Consultant II plays a key role in delivering a seamless and high-quality member experience. Their expertise in BECU’s products allows them to identify, diagnose, and address members’ consumer financial needs and refer them to specialized services when necessary. They will serve as a subject matter expert, resolving members' needs and providing expertise in specialized financial services. This role requires flexibility to work across all POD branches (Silverdale, Bainbridge Island) for up to the first year or more, with a one-year commitment to the role, POD, and schedule. Training will include travel to the Tukwila Financial Center, and the ability to commute between branches and the training location is required. Schedules are typically given 30 days in advance but may require adaptation to varying schedules and branch assignments based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience
  • Minimum two years of experience in a sales-oriented, financial, or retail environment
  • Ability to successfully complete 12-week in-house training program after hire
  • Ability to work flexible shifts
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills to enable daily communication with Members
  • Problem resolution, negotiating, organization, multi-tasking and peer coaching skills

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in a financial institution
  • Spanish language fluency highly desirable
  • Thorough understanding of the sales process and ability to manage a sales pipeline efficiently
  • Strong proficiency and comfort level with learning new systems and programs; with the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of Credit Union key objectives, product and service solutions
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to membership, deposit, and loan products and services offered.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a seamless and high-quality member experience.
  • Identify, diagnose, and address members’ consumer financial needs.
  • Refer members to specialized services when necessary.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to resolve member needs.
  • Provide expertise in specialized financial services.
  • Utilize product knowledge to provide excellent customer service and sales, including areas of business services, consumer lending, deposit servicing, IRA, POA, and Fiduciary accounts.
  • Sign all line and loan documents that originate through outbound/inbound call center, ensuring each Member’s needs are fulfilled.
  • Assist the community with financial wellness through financial education programs, assistance with budgeting, debt management, or access to financial planning resources.
