This position requires a proactive and friendly individual who can handle a variety of tasks, from processing transactions to offering financial advice and lending solutions. The Member Advisor plays a key role in enhancing member relationships and contributing to the overall success of the credit union. Opportunity to join our team as a Member Advisor 1, 2, or 3 based on your experience and qualifications. This role offers a base salary plus incentives, as well as the potential for future promotion within the Member Advisor career path.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in banking, customer service, or sales.
  • General knowledge of financial products, services, and lending regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding member service and maintaining member confidentiality.
  • Ability to move around a branch to interact with members.
  • Manual Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for tasks such as counting cash and operating office equipment.
  • Ability to carry and lift office items, up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory abilities to understand and communicate with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively interact with members to build relationships of trust.
  • Provide excellent member service by greeting members warmly, identifying their needs, and offering appropriate solutions.
  • Assist members with account inquiries, transaction processing, and problem resolution in a timely and professional manner.
  • Educate members about credit union products and services, helping them make informed financial decisions.
  • Accurately process member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and payments.
  • Properly handle cash and negotiable instruments and maintain accurate records of transactions.
  • Adhere to security and compliance protocols to ensure the safety and confidentiality of member information.
  • Build strong member relationships by identifying financial needs and uncovering solutions that support members’ long-term financial well-being.
  • Advocate for members by recommending and cross-selling credit union products and services, including loans, credit cards, and savings solutions, that align with their financial goals.
  • Refer members to specialized financial advisors for more complex financial needs to ensure comprehensive financial support.
  • Participate in promotional campaigns, community outreach, and relationship-building opportunities to attract new members and strengthen community connections.
  • Deliver the BLUE Experience by building rapport, learning member needs, uncovering meaningful solutions, and earning member trust through personalized service and financial advocacy.
  • Open new accounts, including checking, savings, IRA, and Term Certificate accounts.
  • Assist members with account maintenance tasks, including but not limited to updating personal information, setting up online banking, and processing other account service requests.
  • Guide members through all stages of the consumer lending process, from application through funding and ongoing loan servicing.
  • Assist members with all consumer lending needs by explaining loan terms, conditions, and requirements, and collaborate with the Consumer Lending Department on loan products requiring specialized underwriting.
  • General understanding and ability to explain and sell loan insurance products.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of lending regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Handle member complaints and issues with patience and professionalism, working to resolve them effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve member questions and discrepancies and to provide effective problem resolution.
  • Escalate complex issues to the appropriate department or supervisor as needed.
  • Ensure all transactions, member interactions, and lending activities comply with Westmark policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay informed about changes in banking regulations and industry standards.
