About The Position

The Floor Lead supervises employees while they work, ensuring compliance with company safety and manufacturing policies and procedures. The Floor Lead delegates assignments, trains personnel to new roles and monitors & corrects performance. The Floor Lead performs an active role as the first point of contact between floor personnel and the plant support organization. Floor Leads often perform the same work processes and activities as the production team when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment required.
  • Demonstrate daily the importance of following known standards by referencing documentation when communicating instructions or ideas.
  • Communicate and offer suggestions where gaps in standards are discovered or known
  • Proficient in the basic use of a computer to facilitate the entry and completion of work orders.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Physically able to frequently lift up to 35 lbs with frequent bending.
  • Able to multi-task with shifting priorities and multiple interruptions.
  • Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as needed, including 12 hour shifts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with plant safety and manufacturing policy and procedures.
  • Complete non-standard event investigations (injuries, first aid, near misses, equipment damage etc…) in Gensuite.
  • Ensure daily 6S workstation activities are completed. Where actions are not in place, the lead will work the operators to establish standard workstation organization and operation.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and a clean work environment that meets or exceeds what is established in 6S protocol for specific workstations.
  • Communicate manufacturing instructions to ensure customer specifications and requirements are met.
  • Track production in the plant ERP system including but not limited to inventory adjustments, bill of material maintenance, issuing material, and completing work orders.
  • Track use of furnaces, ladles, vessels, refractory and plant processing supplies.
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of the melt shop including:
  • furnace and vessel operation
  • ladle operations
  • refractory
  • belt and pan operations
  • heat make-up.
  • laboring/packing.
  • Monitor uptime of all equipment and effectively communicate with maintenance through the Maintenance software.
  • Capable of safely and effectively operating overhead cranes, fork trucks, backhoe, KT Grant, and various hand tools
  • Perform routine planned maintenance and inspections per department requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate and legible heat record and other quality records as required.
  • Foster a positive work environment and team building.
  • Performs miscellaneous functions as needed in various departments
  • Performs all work in accordance with the PCC Code of Conduct and SOX guidelines.
