About The Position

The Melt Deck Operator is responsible for the safe operation of pouring molten steel into investment castings using manual and automatic processes including melting metal, removing slag, operating and monitoring all machinery in the department. Additionally, Melt Deck Operators will assist with foundry floor operations on an as needed basis while adhering to safety guidelines. Attendance incentives are available up to $160 per two-week period.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency
Ability to work within a team setting and collaborate with team members
Ability to read gauges pertaining to temperature and alarms
Effective verbal communication skills
Basic math and reasoning ability
Ability to stand and hold 40+ pound parts and lift them to a shoulder level height
Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
Must not have any medical implants, pacemakers, internal defibrillators or metallic foreign objects within the body

Nice To Haves

Melt Deck or foundry experience preferred

Responsibilities

Manually lift and pour molten steel into castings with assistance.
Ensure automatic equipment correctly pours molten steel into castings.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the melting process.
Read traveler documents to verify part information and metal quantities.
Add new and recycled steel to the pot for pouring operations.
Execute proper pot and launderer rebuilding.
Operate overhead crane to move raw material.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment on the melt deck in a constantly changing climate.
Prioritize safety and follow all instructions precisely.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
