About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a medical-surgical unit. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, documentation, and collaborating with the Registered Nurse (RN) to develop and implement care plans. The LPN will also assist in other hospital areas as needed and maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current GA state LPN License
  • Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate
  • Current CPR Certification
  • High School Diploma
  • LPN’s are required to have 20 hours of Education every two (2) yrs by a board approved provider in order to maintain LPN license

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in medical field preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients at the beginning of each shift and as their condition changes.
  • Document assessments as completed.
  • Inform RN in a timely manner about significant deviations from normal patient conditions.
  • Follow unit-based and age-appropriate guidelines in performing patient assessments.
  • Provide useful and appropriate information and recommendations to the RN for the patient care plan.
  • Report changes in patient status to the RN for incorporation into the plan of care.
  • Provide appropriate and complete discharge information to the patient and/or family and assess their understanding.
  • Conduct patient rounds every two hours.
  • Administer medications per hospital medication policy and procedure.
  • Document nursing care per policy and procedure.
  • Communicate patient condition reports at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Ensure nursing documentation reflects intervention, patient response, effectiveness of treatment, follow-up care, and reassessment of problems.
  • Accurately document patient condition preceding, during, and after a crisis.
  • Assist in other areas of the hospital where patient care is being delivered (XRAY, LAB, ER, ICU, OR, PCU ETC.).
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with Protected Health Information (PHI).
