About The Position

Versys, a leading company in industrial commissioning, construction, maintenance, and panel fabrication, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medium Voltage Commissioning Electrician. This opportunity offers the chance to join an elite team of commissioning specialists working on a variety of projects across the United States. The role involves supporting the commissioning team during electrical and functional testing, start-ups, and troubleshooting of various equipment. Additionally, the technician will execute emergency troubleshooting and repair of low, medium, and high voltage electrical power distribution systems, perform complex service upgrades, reconditioning, and retrofits. The position also requires providing expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and new employees, and ensuring safe work practices in substations while adhering to safety standards.

Requirements

Extensive experience as a substation technician
Electrical Technology Diploma, Journeyman Electrician, NCCER certification (or equivalent), or NETA certification
NETA experience
Comprehensive understanding of control and protection systems
Ability to interpret drawings and electrical studies
Experience in electrical engineering, design, and construction processes
Proficiency in Hexagon Smart Completions
Ability to prepare detailed technical reports
Proficiency in MS Office software
10+ years of commissioning / medium voltage experience
Valid driver’s license and clean driver's abstract
Successfully pass a drug and alcohol test
First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, GHS, Defensive Driving, H2S Awareness
Eligible to work in the US
Availability to travel across the US as required
Three recent references related to commissioning or turnaround work on live facilities

Possession of Electrical Contractor licenses is a bonus

Responsibilities

Operating and maintaining medium and high voltage systems
Commissioning, Testing, and Safe Energization of new Medium Voltage/ High Voltage Electrical Systems
Conducting DOBLE DGA sampling and HIPOT testing
Executing maintenance and tests on high voltage systems
Supporting commissioning team during electrical and functional testing, start-ups, and troubleshooting of various equipment including switchgear, motor contactors, disconnect switches, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, surge protection devices, battery banks, UPS systems, power cables, protective relays, and meters.
Execute emergency troubleshooting and repair of low, medium, and high voltage electrical power distribution systems
Perform complex service upgrades, reconditioning, retrofits, etc., for low-voltage power distribution products and systems
Provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and newly recruited employees
Use electrical test sets to perform tests like AC and DC High Potential testing, Transformer Turns Ratio testing, Power Factor testing, primary current injection, resistance testing, thermal scans on medium and low voltage electrical systems
Ensure safe work practices in low, medium, and high voltage substations while adhering to Arc Flash and Shock Hazards safety standards
Promote a culture of confidentiality and safety
