The Medium Equipment Operator for Stormwater performs unskilled, semiskilled, and manual labor work in the operation of several types of light to medium equipment involved in the maintenance and/or construction of County roadways, right of ways, and other areas as needed. This is a full-time, field position and requires frequent travel throughout Citrus County. Scheduled days are Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws. Operates, maintains, and services various medium equipment’s to maintain roadways, right of ways, drainage, etc. Operates medium equipment including, but not limited to, farm tractors, mowers, dump trucks, flatbeds, water trucks, backhoe, skid loader, mini excavator, roller and other trucks, tractors, or similar equipment. May occasionally operate gasoline powered machinery as assigned. Cleans equipment and maintains all records on equipment. Maintains record of tasks performed daily, and other reports and records as required. Assists in removal of trees, debris, and vegetation to maintain roadways. Operates heavier equipment on emergency, temporary or trainee basis, as needed. Responds to after hours’ emergency call outs as needed. Assists with disaster preparedness and emergency response in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency event. Performs other duties as required.
