About The Position

This role involves the maintenance and enhancement of the Meditech Laboratory Information System (LIS) across various lab sites and facilities. The coordinator will be responsible for managing dictionaries, building new tests and analyzers, and ensuring seamless functionality of instrument interfaces. Additionally, the position requires testing and validating system updates, troubleshooting interface issues, managing user access and training, and collaborating with other Meditech modules. The role also includes performing laboratory tests, handling specimens, maintaining quality assurance, and adhering to safety policies. Phlebotomy and additional duties as assigned are also part of the scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution or comparable degree that includes equivalent class completion of the required biology and chemistry disciplines.
  • Knowledge of all functions of the Laboratory Meditech System
  • Documented successful completion of training acceptable for eligibility for certification.
  • Professional communication and presentation skills
  • Multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to analyze and understand information
  • Possess a strong work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP or equivalent certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain LIS Lab related dictionaries for all lab sites and facilities.
  • Build new tests and analyzers as needed.
  • Map and monitor lab reporting to State Health.
  • Test and validate Meditech updates.
  • Build and maintain instrument interfaces and functionality between clinic labs and LIS.
  • Build and maintain interface and functionality with reference lab.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to interfaces and LIS.
  • Monitor faxing and reports.
  • Grant access to lab functions for new users.
  • Train users as needed for Meditech functionality.
  • Help the Lab module to work better with other modules of Meditech (e.g., Charge Rules to BAR, OM integration of Lab orders, reporting specific lab results to Pharmacy).
  • Perform and complete all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times.
  • Handle specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable specimens and specimens for transport to reference labs.
  • Record and report testing data according to department guidelines.
  • Perform and record required quality assurance/control data, recognize outliers and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Perform and report proficiency tests as assigned.
  • Observe and abide by mandated safety policies in performing duties.
  • Perform instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned.
  • Observe reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and report re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering.
  • Demonstrate initiative and make good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
  • Accept and deliver constructive criticism in a positive manner.
  • Perform phlebotomy/triage duties as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
