Medication Technicians are an essential part of our wellness team by administering medications to residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner under the supervision of a licensed nurse and general direction of the Wellness Director. The role involves preparing and administering medications as allowed by state regulation to residents following established policies and procedures. It also includes accurately completing required documentation of medication administration at time-of-service delivery, verifying resident identity, and recording medication details. Technicians must review MARs immediately after administration and prior to the end of their shift to ensure documentation is complete and accurate. They are required to notify supervisors when making the decision not to administer a medication as ordered and communicate effectively at the end of each shift, relaying relevant information regarding resident care, concerns, and changes to oncoming personnel. Responsibilities also include maintaining the security of the medication cart and narcotic keys, conducting narcotic counts, observing residents for changes in psychosocial and physical condition, maintaining a clean and orderly environment, assisting residents with activities of daily living, engaging residents in activities, communicating professionally with physicians and third-party specialists, maintaining resident records, and following established safety protocols.
