About The Position

Mercy Retirement and Care Center is seeking a full-time Medication Aide/Med Tech to join their team. This role is responsible for preparing and administering medications to residents as ordered by a physician, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining medication inventory. The center has a long history of providing exceptional, person-centered care to seniors, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working experience with computerized Point of Care and other systems.
  • Minimum of six months experience in long term care, home care, or a related field.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English language.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Successful completion of background check, drug screen, and other pre-employment testing as required by state (may include fingerprinting and/or pre-employment physical).

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months or more in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
  • Successful completion of Med Tech Training program and Medication Aide/Medication Tech certification in state, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and passes medication for residents as ordered by a physician.
  • Reports any medication errors, side effects, or problems to supervisor or physician.
  • Documents administration or refusal of medication in the required format and style.
  • Maintains documentation and communication log in accordance with required procedures, using electronic system when appropriate.
  • Reorders meds as needed, following appropriate protocols.
  • Responsible for the delivery, ordering, re-ordering, storage, documentation, and destruction of medications, following medication policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that medication is available when needed through on-time refills.
  • Orders labs as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
