About The Position
Mercy Retirement and Care Center is seeking a full-time Medication Aide/Med Tech to join their team. This role is responsible for preparing and administering medications to residents as ordered by a physician, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining medication inventory. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working experience with computerized Point of Care and other systems.
- Minimum of six months experience in long term care, home care, or a related field.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English language.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Successful completion of background check, drug screen, and other pre-employment testing as required by state (may include fingerprinting and/or pre-employment physical).
Nice To Haves
- 6 months or more in long term care, home care or related field preferred.
- Successful completion of Med Tech Training program and Medication Aide/Medication Tech certification in state, as required.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and passes medication for residents as ordered by a physician.
- Reports any medication errors, side effects, or problems to supervisor or physician.
- Documents administration or refusal of medication in the required format and style.
- Maintains documentation and communication log in accordance with required procedures, using electronic system when appropriate.
- Reorders meds as needed, following appropriate protocols.
- Responsible for the delivery, ordering, re-ordering, storage, documentation, and destruction of medications, following medication policies and procedures.
- Ensures that medication is available when needed through on-time refills.
- Orders labs as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
