About The Position

The Medication Assistant is to provide resident care services including assistance with self-administration of medication, to the residents in the Assisted Living area under the supervision of the Resident Care Director (RCD) according to scheduled duties and assist in maintaining a positive physical and social environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • May be a Licensed or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant (NA), depending on the state requirements; if licensed or certified, must be in good standing with the state licensing or certifying agency.
  • Must possess current Medication Training certification.
  • Must have a positive Criminal Background Screening.
  • The Community is a drug free workplace; associates are subject to adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience with senior adults highly preferred.
  • Certification in CPR and first aid preferred or as required by the State.
  • Previous experience with computerized resident documentation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and document medications accurately and on time, following physician orders, state regulations, and community policies
  • Watch residents for changes in condition, side effects, or reactions, and report concerns to the Resident Care Director and nursing staff right away
  • Keep medication administration records (MARs) accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Receive, store, and track medications and supplies
  • Help residents with activities of daily living as needed, including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting
  • Communicate clearly with residents, families, and team members, and take part in shift-change reports
  • Follow infection control, safety, and resident rights standards at all times
  • Help keep the environment clean, safe, and welcoming
  • Assist residents with medications as allowed under State guidelines.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, positioning, transfer, mobility, and incontinence care.
  • Work closely with and maintain daily communications with the Resident Services associates to ensure continuity of care and services is maintained for the residents.
  • Participate in resident activities and lead resident activities as needed.
  • Meet customer service standards in a friendly, helpful, courteous manner with resident satisfaction a priority.
