The Medication Technician (MA/LMNA/MT) is responsible for dispensing unit dose medications, making required record entries, and notifying the nurse of any self-administered medications. This role also involves ordering and receiving medications according to state regulations and community policies. The Medication Technician will assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as toileting, dressing, bathing, eating, and walking, as detailed in their service plan. They will monitor residents for changes in needs, preferences, and health status, reporting any observed changes to the RN or designee immediately. Additional duties include assisting residents with clothing and laundry, supervising or assisting with activity programs, helping residents with bedtime routines, and maintaining the neatness and orderliness of resident units. The Medication Technician will respond promptly to emergency calls and resident needs. Participation in regularly scheduled in-service training programs and any specialized staff training or mandatory education required by state regulations is expected. The role also involves escorting residents to meals and activities, documenting all provided services (scheduled and unscheduled), incidents, behaviors, and unusual events, including refusals of services. Inputting service information into the community computer tracking system is also a responsibility. Furthermore, the Medication Technician will conduct and facilitate programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interactions, aimed at cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity, and spiritual connection.
