About The Position

The Medication Technician provides direct support to individuals participating in residential addiction recovery services. This role oversees the self-administration of medications, monitors medication effects, maintains accurate medication records and inventory, and supports a safe and recovery-oriented residential environment. The Medication Technician works closely with nursing and residential program staff to ensure medication safety and effective coordination of care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPR and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain within the first month of employment

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience as a Medication Aide or Medication Technician
  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals in substance use disorder or addiction recovery settings
  • Basic understanding of addiction, recovery, and behavioral health principles
  • Familiarity with strength-based and individualized treatment approaches
  • Understanding of group processes and recovery-oriented care environments
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced setting
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients
  • Proficiency with computer systems for documentation and communication
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a proactive member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Professional conduct that reflects positively on the organization

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the self-administration of medications in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations
  • Monitor and document medication effects, reporting concerns or changes to nursing staff as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate medication counts and medication inventory
  • Ensure medication carts remain organized, clean, and properly maintained, and assist with medication cart audits
  • Serve as a positive role model for clients, promoting recovery-focused behavior and healthy boundaries
  • Collaborate with nursing and residential program staff to support daily program operations
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned to support the residential treatment team
