About The Position

Fairview Range is hiring a Medication Scribe/Pharmacy Technician for our Nursing Administration and Pharmacy departments in Hibbing, MN. The Medication Scribe is part of a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for collecting and documenting patient medication and allergy information into the electronic health record system. In this position, you will be working closely with patients, families, and care team members throughout the organization to provide a complete, current, and accurate medication and allergy profile for the patient. This is an exciting position that works with patients across multiple departments of the hospital. It requires attention to detail, critical thinking, organization and prioritization skills. Effective and respectful communication skills are key. The Pharmacy Technician is a vital part of the Pharmacy department from providing technical support to clinical duties. This position performs unit dose cart fills, prepares sterile products such as chemotherapy and IV admixtures, and distributes medications and supplies as needed throughout the facility. The successful candidate will be adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Based within the hospital, our Pharmacy supports patient care in inpatient, emergency, and oncology/infusion settings as well as supporting outpatient vaccine programs. Our team manages patient medications, mixes medications on demand, and acts as a resource for the facility.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician MN
  • Current BCS or obtains within 90 Days

Nice To Haves

  • A pharmacy technician training program offered by a board-approved, accredited vocational/technical institution or College
  • 2 years pharmacy technician experience
  • Prior experience in a hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Gathering and documenting patient medication information into the electronic health records system, as well as assisting with related administrative tasks to increase efficiency and productivity of care team and satisfaction of patients.
  • Gather patient medication and allergy information utilizing patients and their families, pharmacy, and other care facility records, to produce an accurate medication and allergy list.
  • Enter the information into the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Consult with doctors, nurses, pharmacists and patients to ensure that the information entered onto the medical record is accurate.
  • Clarify discrepancies in medication regimen.
  • Meet as needed with physicians and others who prescribe, nurses, pharmacists and patients to clarify drug problems, including dose and drug accuracy.
  • Ask questions as appropriate to obtain comprehensive clarification and understanding of the medication regimen.
  • Complete work activities through effective management of time, tasks and available information.
  • Effectively screen patients to provide an accurate medication list available for physician review.
  • Communicate effectively, using all options available including e-mail, fax and direct patient or provider contact.
  • Performs unit dose cart fills.
  • Prepares sterile products such as chemotherapy and IV admixtures.
  • Distributes medications and supplies as needed throughout the facility.
