About The Position
Under general supervision, the Medication Attendant is responsible for assisting Assisted Living and Memory Care residents as directed by a care plan or agreement. This position has the responsibility of providing residents assistance with activities of daily living including assistance with medications according to physician orders. Responsibilities
- Sets up medication for residents and provides medication, under the direction and monitoring of a licensed nurse, and according to physician orders.
- May order/re-order medications.
- Records and documents all medication, treatment and care provided to residents.
- Gives medication to patients and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures.
- Reads communication books in the Wellness office and Lodge for medication changes.
- Sets up new treatments or medication changes.
- Takes verbal orders from MDs and communicates with MD confirming medication changes.
- Assures medications are ordered on time to prevent residents from missing doses.
- Takes blood pressures and pulses when needed for determining drug dosing.
