About The Position

This is a part-time position for an Evening Shift Medication Aide. The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and a desire to provide treatments to help improve or stabilize the overall health of residents. The Medication Aide will monitor vitals, maintain medication charts, assist with activities of daily living, and administer medications. This role is with Legacy Retirement Communities, an equal opportunity employer.

Requirements

• Accuracy to monitor vitals such as blood pressure, pulse, weight and blood sugar.
• Patience to maintain a medication chart and documents regarding medication administration.
• Compassion to assist with activities of daily living for the senior population.
• Obtain a 40-hour valid and current Medication Aide certification in the State of Nebraska.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications including oral, topical, drops, sprays, etc. per doctor’s orders according to the policies and procedures of the facility and adhering to the five rights of medication administration.
• Assist with med cart change over and the checking of the monthly med sheets as directed by the Charge Nurse.
• Monitor any changes in resident’s physical or mental behavior and report the abnormality to the Charge Nurse.
• Maintain medication cart in a clean and orderly state and re-stock with supplies as needed.
• Assist with activities outside of medication management such as: light housekeeping, laundry, resident cares, and other various tasks.
