The Medication Aide is responsible for accurately preparing, administering, and documenting medications as prescribed, observing residents for reactions or side effects. This role involves performing essential functions such as accurately taking and recording vital signs, counting and signing medication administration records for controlled drugs, and safely lifting, moving, and transferring residents. The Medication Aide must also observe residents for any unusual or abnormal findings and report them to the Charge Nurse. Following safety guidelines, utilizing equipment safely, and participating in emergency drills are also key aspects of the position. The role requires adherence to Universal Safety Precautions, the ability to withstand strong odors, and tolerance for personal protective equipment. Regular attendance and the performance of Nurse Aide duties as directed are also expected. Promoting positive public relations, using appropriate communication, and adhering to workplace behavior and dress code are also part of the responsibilities. The Medication Aide must observe for and report medication reactions or side effects and adhere to "Residents Rights" guidelines.
