About The Position

Hultquist Place Assisted Living is expanding its Per Diem Medication Aide Support Pool for 2nd Shift. They are looking for dependable, compassionate Medication Aides who enjoy flexibility while making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults. This role is ideal for those looking to supplement their current income, maintain work-life balance, or stay active in healthcare with a flexible schedule. The Medication Aide assists residents in the Assisted Living Program (ALP) with the self-administration of medications in accordance with New York State regulations and individualized service plans. Working under the direction of licensed nursing staff, the role helps promote resident safety, dignity, independence, and quality of life. This position is non-clinical and follows NYS ALP/ACF guidelines, meaning no medication administration, clinical assessments, nursing judgment, or interpretation of physician orders are involved. All work is performed under licensed nursing supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Successful completion of Hultquist Place’s in-house medication assistance training program, including demonstrated competency, is required prior to independent assignment and will be provided upon hire
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and reliability

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of experience with medication assistance
  • Experience in assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare
  • Experience working with older adults

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with self-administration of medications per service plans
  • Follow MAR/eMAR documentation and medication assistance procedures
  • Observe and report changes in condition, side effects, or refusals
  • Document assistance accurately and timely
  • Ensure proper medication storage and safety practices
  • Promote resident independence, dignity, and privacy
  • Collaborate with nurses, aides, and the care team
  • Participate in required training and quality initiatives
