About The Position

The Medication Aide will administer medications as prescribed by the Nursing Provider of Alternatives. The Medication Aide will document the administration of the medications in accordance with the established policies and procedures, current standards of practice and care and applicable state/federal regulations. Will provide overall support to the Medical team of Alternatives and be responsible for daily duties filling medication boxes. The Medication Aide must be able to maintain focus and regular communication within the department, as well as work well independently as needed. Attention to detail is a must.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant Certification.
  • One year of MA Experience.
  • Ability to relate to offenders.
  • Must possess certification to practice as Medical Assistant/Medication Aide.
  • Must pass drug test, including federally prohibited substances.
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Corrections and mental health experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, fill, and maintain all med boxes for residents.
  • Restock medication cart on all units weekly.
  • Chart and document notes regarding med boxes and other records.
  • Obtain, review, and store medical files and records.
  • Uphold all HIPAA requirements and standards, as well as Alternatives policies.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
