About The Position

The Medication Aide / Tech administers routine medications and documents administration per policy while supporting resident care and reporting concerns to nursing leadership.

Requirements

  • Administer medications per physician order and document it was given.
  • Report to Team Leader any errors, refusal or reactions to medications immediately.
  • Report to Team Leader and complete medication error incident report when there is an error in the administration of medications.
  • Ensure medications are properly labeled and stored according to medication instructions.
  • Ensure medications are reordered when necessary and destroyed as indicated.
  • Complete proper medication destruction.
  • Narcotics should be destroyed with Med Tech and LPN/RN witnessed and cosigned.
  • Non narcotics should be destroyed by Med Tech or LPN
  • Report any complaints or grievances made by residents to the Team Leader.
  • Attend and participate in care plan meetings as necessary.
  • Accurately and sagely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this Community and that may be ordered for resident use by the physician or the Medical Director.
  • Perform as Caregiver/CNA when not passing medications.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of floor medications is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents.
  • Reorder as needed.
  • Report needs for supplies and/or equipment to Resident Care Coordinator.
  • Complete Ovation, Relias and Inservice training as required by Ovation and State Law.
