About The Position

Topside Manor is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Medication Aide/CNA to provide quality care to elders in our small-home skilled nursing community. This position combines medication administration responsibilities with hands-on caregiving and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) in a warm, home-like environment. The Medication Aide/CNA will safely administer medications to approximately 15 elders as prescribed while also supporting residents with personal care, mobility, comfort, and daily routines.

Requirements

  • Current Kansas CNA certification required
  • Current Kansas Medication Aide certification required
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents safely
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist residents throughout the shift
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and delegated by the licensed nurse
  • Observe residents for side effects, reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns promptly
  • Accurately document medication administration and related observations
  • Ensure medication carts, storage areas, and documentation remain organized and compliant
  • Follow all Kansas state regulations and facility policies regarding medication administration
  • Assist elders with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and mobility
  • Assist with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation as needed
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and companionship
  • Answer call lights promptly and respond to resident needs respectfully
  • Assist with meal service and hydration encouragement
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, or cognitive condition
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, caregivers, therapy staff, and leadership
  • Support a person-centered, relationship-based approach to elder care
  • Encourage resident choice, independence, and dignity
  • Participate in household routines and daily home life activities as needed
