About The Position

Metrix is seeking a Medical Writer & Project Lead to join their client-facing medical writing team. This role involves contributing to the company's growth in an industry disrupted by technology and innovation. The ideal candidate will be a strong project manager and medical writer with a passion for corporate communication, particularly in the learning and development and healthcare marketing fields. Responsibilities include consulting with clients, managing project timelines and budgets, writing, editing, and quality assurance of scientific content in the healthcare sector. The role requires experience consulting to healthcare and pharmaceutical professionals, managing client relationships (including senior stakeholders), and demonstrating problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity. Experience managing project teams and medical writing is essential. Direct experience in the Learning & Development industry is an asset but not required. The role offers opportunities for career growth in project management and leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in the life sciences required
  • 3-5 years in a medical communications or medical marketing agency
  • Experience coaching and managing people
  • Expertise and experience in project and client management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a high-performance team environment with demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking and Design Thinking practices
  • Experience working with or consulting to large or complex organizations
  • Demonstrated ability navigating ambiguity and problem-solving capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Consult and Build Relationships with Clients: Understand and identify client requirements, provide recommendations for learning and development initiatives, consult on materials design, development, and deployment, contribute to business development (identifying opportunities, writing proposals, participating in sales presentations), lead internal and external project team meetings, and provide advice and solutions to client challenges.
  • Group Project Management: Work with clients and team members to define project goals, roles, responsibilities, timelines, work effort, and risk mitigation. Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and scope, ensuring adherence to budgets and minimizing scope creep. Act as the primary point of contact for clients. Follow and support company best practices, processes, and tools.
  • Design & Develop Client Solutions: Manage project team performance throughout the project lifecycle, potentially managing multiple projects concurrently. Design and develop client learning solutions for various therapeutic areas and target audiences. Ensure referencing is complete according to client and regulatory standards. Ensure overall quality of work, including accuracy, consistency, writing style, and visual design. Interpret and incorporate feedback from colleagues and clients.
  • Leadership, Coaching, and Collaboration: Oversee and provide leadership to direct reports (if applicable), project teams, and peers through leading, coaching, and consulting. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients. Demonstrate commitment to Metrix’s mission, vision, values, and business goals.
