About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join our team at the Halsey Lab in Portland, OR. This position is in the Chemistry Department and involves determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and monitoring/troubleshooting instrumentation. The role requires preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls, reporting accurate test results, and performing preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. The Medical Lab Technologist will also be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and assisting with specimen processing as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology
• ASCP or AMT certification
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed
• Exceptional customer service
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Comfortable working under minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Predominantly working in Hematology, Urinalysis, and Coagulation
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
