About The Position
The Medical Technologist performs patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. The role calls for a service-committed, detail-oriented individual able to perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. This position is at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. The schedule is night shifts Sunday through Saturday, with variable shift length, and the listed FTE is 0.001.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist, MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), AMT, or MT (AAB).
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology.
- Specialist certification in a discipline, such as Hematology (SH, ASCP), Microbiology (SM, ASCP), Blood Banking (SBB, ASCP), or Chemistry (SC, ASCP).
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens and establish and maintain positive identification of specimens.
- Determine specimen suitability.
- Acquire and prepare reagents as needed.
- Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.
- Perform patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, and results reporting.
- Resolve technical problems.
