About The Position

Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is a leading healthcare provider committed to delivering exceptional patient care through cutting-edge technology and a dedicated team of professionals. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our dynamic team. Our Medical Technologists perform, evaluate, interpret, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results. Testing performed at PCI Lab includes comprehensive chemistry, hematology, urinalysis and serology. PCI’s lab is a high complexity lab that is accredited by COLA. This full-time, Monday-Friday, position has flexible hours that vary between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; or an Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) by a recognized certifying agency (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform complex testing procedures.
  • Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
  • Strong Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a variety of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples, including blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Interpret and analyze test results and communicate findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
  • Document and record test results and procedures accurately.
  • Participate in the development and validation of new laboratory tests and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to laboratory staff as needed.
  • Perform phlebotomies as needed.
