About The Position

The Medical Technologist plays a critical role in the Laboratory Department by coordinating testing procedures and managing clinical data in collaboration with medical staff. This position requires demonstrated phlebotomy experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to effectively engage with both medical and technical personnel. Bilingual capabilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

Integrate scientific knowledge with technical competency concerning laboratory operations.
Participate in implementing the Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan, Infectious/Exposure Control Plan, Electrical Safety, Disaster Plan, Fire Plan, and Compliance and Ethics policies.
Perform EKGs, phlebotomies, therapeutic phlebotomies, arterial and capillary collections with adherence to age-related techniques.
Clarify physician orders and respond to inquiries regarding orders, specimens, and results.
Maintain standards in routine, timed, and STAT testing while demonstrating the ability to prioritize effectively.
Share weekend and daily on-call hours with other staff technologists.
Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment and adhere to safety practices.
Prepare and monitor quality control charts, instrument function checks, and maintenance protocols to ensure the quality, consistency, and integrity of results.
Demonstrate competency in patient care delivery, optimizing patient safety to reduce the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Utilize good judgment in responding to the needs and requests related to laboratory operations.
Follow proper procedures when laboratory equipment is malfunctioning and ensure continuity of care by following through on incomplete procedures.
Correlate results with diagnoses and investigate discrepancies or incompatible results.
Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of all laboratory departments, ensuring documentation of preventive maintenance performed.
Identify and report medical/health care errors appropriately, assisting in error resolution as necessary.
