About The Position

The Medical Technologist will cover a range of routine and STAT testing on blood, urine, and other body fluids. This includes collecting, transporting, processing, and evaluating specimens for all lab sections. The role involves performing clinical chemistry and toxicology on automated and semi-automated instruments, storing and preparing reagents, standards, and calibrators, and maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and effecting repairs of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. The Medical Technologist will document these functions and inform supervisory staff of any problems encountered. Additionally, they will prepare, test, record, and interpret quality control materials, taking corrective action for out-of-control results and notifying supervisory staff of any issues. The Medical Technologist tests, verifies, and reports patient test results in accordance with established protocols, recognizing and responding to indications of malfunctions in testing and reporting. They will immediately evaluate current test results against available prior test results for acceptability and report critical results in accordance with established protocols.

Requirements

  • Twelve (12) months as a Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist with Generalist and Microbiology experience.
  • B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or one of the Biological Science (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.) from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or an equivalent Medical Laboratory Technician (with appropriate training) and a minimum of one (1) year of experience.
  • Certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities
