About The Position

Elizabethtown Community Hospital seeks Medical Technologists (multiple openings) to work at Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, NY, and perform routine and highly complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens. Duties include, among others: (i) performing clinical and proficiency tests under the direct supervision of a NYSDOH qualified Manager; (ii) performing quality control procedures as required by the Manager, evaluating quality control results before proceeding with clinical testing, recording all quality control results and take necessary corrective actions; (iii) accurately and efficiently utilizing LIS by using appropriate comments and codes, entering and monitoring QC data, daily backup and status (pending) lists; (iv) performing all routine scheduled equipment maintenance, following troubleshooting procedures when equipment malfunctions completing all maintenance record keeping documents; and (v) collecting or aiding in the collection of patient specimens for testing. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Medical Technology or a directly related field.
  • Ability to work independently on weekends, afternoon and night shifts.
  • ICHP Visa Screen Certificate, if applicable.
  • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
