About The Position

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join their Laboratory team. Laboratory professionals are essential to healthcare, performing tests that help physicians diagnose conditions, guide treatment, and monitor patient health. The role involves performing various laboratory tests and procedures, analyzing and interpreting results, maintaining quality control, and troubleshooting instrumentation. This position is part of a dedicated team focused on accuracy, efficiency, and excellent patient care.

Requirements

  • MLT Candidates: Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program, including coursework in chemistry and biology; OR Associate degree of at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including chemistry and biology, plus a 12-month structured curriculum in medical laboratory techniques; OR Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, including chemistry and biology, plus graduation from a military medical laboratory training program of at least 12 months.
  • MT/MLS Candidates: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • MT/MLS Candidates: Completion of an approved ASCP or equivalent certification pathway, or satisfaction of CLIA requirements for HEW certification.
  • MT/MLS Candidates: Completion of one year in an accredited laboratory training program.
  • MLT Candidates: Required certification eligibility includes MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT), HEW, CLS (NCA), or equivalent, for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
  • MT/MLS Candidates: Required certification eligibility includes MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), HEW, CLS (NCA), or equivalent, for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
  • Registry within 12 months of completing school/training is recommended for MLT candidates, or equivalent education documentation in accordance with CLIA standards.
  • Certification within 12 months of completing school/training is preferred for MT/MLS candidates, or equivalent education documentation in accordance with CLIA standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred.
  • Individuals who qualified for certification prior to December 31, 2003, are not required to maintain yearly certification.
