About The Position

Medical Technologist position available. The role involves accurately performing routine and clinical laboratory tests in the Core Laboratory, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Microbiology. The individual must possess a strong technical background, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the capacity to operate clinical laboratory equipment for both automated and manual procedures. Experience with Beckman Coulter, Abbott, and Siemens instrumentation is preferred. This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently. The employee must demonstrate efficient laboratory testing techniques and quality control while maintaining acceptable turn-around-time and compliance. Effective communication in English is necessary for training, responding to inquiries, and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or related science from an accredited college or university.
  • Laboratory training including the completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by ABHES, NAACLS, or other organization by HHS, or have at least 3-months documented training in each specialty in which they have performed high complexity testing.
  • Working knowledge of CAP and CLIA regulations and CLSI procedure formats applicable to an accredited clinical lab.
  • Individual must meet minimum CLIA requirements for High Complexity Testing Personnel.
  • Five years’ experience in a licensed clinical laboratory may be substituted for ASCP registration to comply with federal and state laboratory personnel qualifications regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Beckman Coulter, Abbott, and Siemens instrumentation.
  • Major lab instrument familiarity (Beckman Coulter, Abbott, Siemens).
  • ASCP or equivalent technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing as assigned.
  • Perform required Quality Control testing.
  • Perform Proficiency Testing when assigned.
  • Review Patient Reports as testing occurs to perform repeat analysis, if required.
  • Monitor supply inventories to assure they are adequate for the workload.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance as required.
  • Review and assist in updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Report concerns to Laboratory Management on the status of testing, as required.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
