About The Position

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Medical Technologist for their Microbiology Lab. This PRN position involves performing diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states. The role reports to the Director of Laboratory Services and serves various patient populations, though it does not directly treat or care for patients. The position requires access to protected health information and involves occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, biological and chemical hazards, hazardous medications, and latex. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and equipment handling, with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting.

Requirements

• Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree
• Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements).
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Valid driver license
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP); ASCP or equivalent registry
